About Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Roche Calcaire

Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Roche Calcaire is a monovarietal white wine from the AOC Alsace made with Pinot Gris and vinified by Domaine Zind-Humbrecht.

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is an Alsatian winery, resulting from the union of two families with a long winemaking tradition. It currently has about 41 hectares that it cultivates biodynamically. It is run by the first French Master of Wine, Olivier Humbrecht.

The vineyards for Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Roche Calcaire were planted between 1988 and 1992 in calcareous rock soils in the municipality of Windsbushl. Their average yields are approximately 36 hectolitres per hectare. The vineyards are harvested a little earlier than those of the Domaine’s old vines, since the winery’s aim is to avoid the grapes over-ripening.

Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Roche Calcaire usually ferments slowly, and is bottled when it is considered that the wine has already rested enough on its lees and is at the optimum moment for doing so.
2017 Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Roche Calcaire 2017 has a good citrus and toasted profile with creamy touches of lees. On the palate it is gently voluminous and its finish is persistent and shows a pleasant acidity, almost completely concealing its very slight sweetness.
