About Baigorri Garnacha

Baigorri Garnacha is a red wine from the IO Rioja produced by Bodegas Baigorri.

Baigorri is a modern winery. It was built with the idea that all movements of both the grape and wine should be carried by gravity, without using any mechanics.

The grapes come from the first floor and travel by gravity to floor -7, which is the aging room, whilst completing all steps of the process.

Baigorri Garnacha is a varietal Grenache, made with grapes from very old vines with low production.

The grapes are selected grain by grain using sorting tables. They are de-stemmed and macerated uncrushed at a controlled temperature.

Baigorri Garnacha spends 14 months aging in new French oak barrels and subsequently ages in the bottle in which the wine ends its process.

2017 Baigorri Garnacha 2017 is a red wine with intense aromas where floral and red fruit notes appear accompanied by an outstanding presence of minerality. The palate is juicy, round and fresh. A very complex and velvety red wine, with a noticeable acidity that gives it freshness and a delicious elegance.
2016

Baigorri Garnacha 2016 is a sophisticated red wine. Olfactorily, it is intricate, boasting a spectrum of nuances including ripe fruit, dried herbs, luscious oak, and balsamic accents. On the palate, it is robust, featuring mature fruit and a melange of spices. The tannins are well-aged. It has a rich and velvety texture. The finish is enduring.
2010 Unctuous, elegant and engulfing on the palate. A fresh, pleasant attack, a medium bodied mid palate and a silky development. The finish is lightly astringent with pleasant tannins. Notable acidity gives the wine a correct persistency.

Cherry red with maroon edges and a purple rim. A medium-high robe.

Intense floral notes and red fruit with great complexity and an ensemble of nuances. The spiced and vanilla notes are very elegant and in harmony with the fruit. Light smoked and toasted notes.
2008 Nice, broad attack. Silky on the palate with persistent floral and spicy notes. Medium-full bodied. Nice, slightly dry, tannins and a good acidity. Long and persistent finish leaving mineral sensations at retro-olfaction.

Picota cherry colour with a beetroot coloured rim. High robe, clean and bright. Hearty, dense tears stain the glass.

Clean and very well defined nose. Intense toasted toasts appear at first along with some spices. Once oxigenated floral aromas, lactic notes and juicy ripe black fruit appear. Nice mineral background.
