About Borsao Crianza

Borsao Crianza is a barrel-aged red wine produced by Borsao in the DO. Campo de Borja (Aragón) using the red grape varieties Garnacha, Syrah, and Tempranillo.

Established in 2001 following the merger of the three local cooperatives, Borsao is a winery specialising in the region's flagship variety: Garnacha. With a logo depicting a rider galloping through the town of Bursao (the ancient name for Borja), it embodies an adventurous spirit eager to gain global recognition.

Borsao Crianza is sourced from old vineyards situated on the slopes of the Moncayo massif. Vines aged between 20 and 40 years are planted at altitudes ranging from 500 to 700 metres above sea level on clay-limestone, stony, and loamy soils. Traditional farming practices are employed, and the harvest is done manually at the optimal ripeness.

In the winery, each variety for Borsao Crianza is vinified separately. The process involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 24 and 28°C, with a maceration period lasting a total of 15 days. Finally, the wine is aged for several months (less than a year) in Bordeaux barrels made of French oak (90%) and American oak (10%).

2015 Borsao Crianza 2015 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe black fruit and sweet aromas of vanilla. On the palate it is intense, meaty and well structured. A wine with sweet tannins and a long and pleasant aftertaste.
