About Celler Credo Ratpenat

Celler Credo is the organic and biodynamic wine project of the Recaredo family for the Penedès Designation of Origin.

In recent years, Celler Credo  has established itself as one of the leading wineries in Penedès specializing only in autochthonous varieties and a firm commitment to the implementation of programmes aimed at preserving the ecosystem. Its range of varietal wines from xarel·lo, as well as the collection of biodiversity wines (Ratpenat-Macabeo, Volaina-Parellada and Mirabelles-Malvasía de Sitges) have earned the admiration of critics both national and international, with consolidation in demanding markets such as Japan, Canada, the United States and the Nordic countries. 

Celler Credo Ratpenat is a deep and honest white wine made 100% with macabeo. Fruit-laden, with good acidity and a glimpse of the maceration.

Celler Credo Ratpenat (the Catalan word for “bat”) grew out of an agreement between Celler Credo and the Granollers Natural Science Museum to work together to defend the environment and the creatures that inhabit it. The agreement between both supports projects aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of bats in the ecosystem and at conserving this mammal in the vineyard environment, where it plays a valuable role as an efficient insectivore.

Celler Credo Ratpenat is made from macabeo grapes from family-run vineyards located in the region of Alt Penedés. These dry-farmed vineyards are cultivated following the principles of organic agriculture and biodynamics. They are manually harvested and placed in boxes. Maceration with their skins and stems during the first hours after receiving the grapes. Fermentation in old oak barrels and ageing in the same barrels for some months.

2018

Celler Credo Ratpenat 2018 is an elegant and mineral white wine. The nose is reminiscent of fresh grass, hay and white flowers. The palate is deep, with good acidity and fruity notes. 
2017 Ratpenta 2017 is a profiled white wine with aromas of white fruit, floral notes and hints of yeast. On the palate it is elegant, lively and expressive. A very balanced, fruity wine with good acidity.
