Abadía Retuerta Pago Valdebellón is a red wine crafted by the winery Abadía Retuerta in Sardón de Duero (Valladolid), within the DOP Abadía Retuerta (Castilla y León).
Abadía Retuerta embarked on its journey in 1996, with vineyards planted in the preceding years, 1991 and 1994. This year marked the beginning of classifying soils according to their composition and altitude, initiating tailored treatment with a view to subsequent vinification.
The vineyards of Abadía Retuerta are situated at altitudes ranging from 700 to 850 metres, and the climate in this region is predominantly continental, with typically cold winters and hot summers, creating an ideal environment for the optimal ripening of grapes and the balance of the vine.
These conditions, combined with cutting-edge technology from one of Europe's most advanced wineries, result in exceptional wines, embodying the terroir's character and the potential of each grape variety.
Abadía Retuerta Pago Valdebellón is a red wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from Pago Valdebellón, a vineyard set on calcareous soils.
Following the harvest, a grape selection is conducted on a sorting table. The must ferments in small stainless steel tanks by parcel. After an extended maceration, the wine rests and matures in new French oak barrels for over a year.
