About El Pecado

El Pecado is a wine made by the great Raul Perez, who has become one of the most renowned wine makers in Spain for his wise appreciation of the Mencia grape variety, producing great wines of limited production.

Raúl Pérez makes wines in different areas and in collaboration with different wineries. El Pecado is made in the Guímaro cellar, a small family winery located in the Ribeira Sacra, using both the grape and the facilities of this winery. It is a single variety of Mencia from vines 100 years old, planted on a steep terraces in the canyon of the river Sil on slate soils and granite. The harvest is done manually and the winemaking is done traditionally. The grapes are trodden and fermentation local yeasts from the vineyard itself is carried out before the wine is aged for a year in oak barrels. El Pecado is one of the flagship wines of Raúl Pérez, a wonderful Mencia that, after several vintages with an excellent reception from critics, is poised to become one of the great Spanish wines. In the mouth, el Pecado is a tasty, elegant and intense wine. It has good acidity and polished tannins.
