There are enchanting places... Places where history, landscape, and wine intertwine in a unique manner. Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Briñas is a wine born in one of these special corners, in Briñas, at the foot of the majestic Sierra de Cantabria (Rioja Alavesa).
This enclave is not only a viticultural paradise but also holds a spiritual legacy: between the 14th and 15th centuries, it housed a farm of Hieronymite monks linked to the Toloño sanctuary. Its name, Remelluri, derives from the toponym Erramelluri, associated with the Alavese count Erramel, who founded a settlement in the area.
Since 1967, the Rodríguez family has safeguarded this treasure, and in 2009, Telmo Rodríguez, one of Spain's most influential oenologists and wine producers, took the helm of the family project with a clear vision: to respect the identity of each terroir. Thus, Lindes was born and a year later it branched into Lindes de Labastida and Lindes de San Vicente to differentiate the personality of the two municipalities. But that's not all, as the Lindes range was later expanded with a village wine project starting with the 2020 vintage, extending to new localities such as Briñas, Salinillas de Buradón, Ábalos, Peciña, and Rivas de Tereso.
Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Briñas originates from vineyards established on stony soils near the meanders of the Ebro River. Its character is born from the field's Garnacha, blended with Tempranillo and other varieties, all sourced from a single viticulturist. Fermentation was conducted in stainless steel with native yeasts, preserving the purity of the fruit, and its 12-month ageing in barrels of various sizes, including foudres, allowed the wine to gain depth without losing freshness.
Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Briñas is a wine of pure soul, where the vineyard speaks without embellishments or artifice. As Telmo Rodríguez himself says: "Let the arguments expressed in a wine be genuine and not mere embellishment."
