About Castro Ventosa Valtuille Cepas Centenarias

Valtuille Cepas Centenarias is a red wine from D.O. Bierzo produced by the winery Castro Ventosa.

In this wine, we have a prevailing variety, the mencía, bastardoand small amounts of other varieties.

The soils where the grapes for Valtuille Cepas Centenarias are planted are comprised of sand and chalk. The vineyards grow at an altitude of 580 metres. Here, we can find century-old vineyards where the mencía grows. The climate in the region of El Bierzo, located in Castilla y León, has continental and Atlantic influences.

The cultivation of the vines, as well as the harvest of the grapes for Valtuille Cepas Centenarias, is carried out manually. 

Vinification is carried out in 5,000-litre wooden vats, where Valtuille Cepas Centenarias ferments. Previously, the must underwent a long maceration in tanks for approximately 60 days.
 
Finally, Valtuille Cepas Centenarias rests in oak barrels before being bottled without being clarified or cold stabilised.

Valtuille Cepas Centenarias 2019 is a multi-layered, profound red, dominated by nuances of violet. Exhibiting a cherry-red hue with violet tinges, it boasts a fragrant bouquet, intermingling intense violet aromas with wild herbs and red fruit notes. On the palate, it reveals complexity and harmony, with velvety tannins. The finish is extensive and lingering.
2012 Robust and full-bodied. Lengthy and flavorsome, exquisitely balanced with ripe tannins. Exceptionally long finish.

Deep cherry with garnet hues. High robe and plentiful tears.

Intense notes of ripe red fruit. Hints of black fruit and mineral undertones. Smoky and floral touches over a pleasant balsamic background.
2007 Powerful, full-bodied, bulky and very tasty Bierzo wine. It shows a very long, velvety and meaty mid palate in which the aromas felt on the nose have an important role. Perfectly balanced wine with an excellent acidity and fine tannins. Very long and very persistent finish.

Dark cherry colour with maroon edges. A wine with a high robe and abundant tears.

Intense and complex aromas. Initially, intense and juicy notes of red ripe fruit are released. When it opens up, the red fruit gains in expressiveness and gets a touch of liquour. Hints of black fruits are also felt along with a very marked minerality mixed with smoky notes, some floral aromas and subtle touches of wood provided during its ageing. Good balsamic background.
2006 Powerful mouth, very fleshy, with ripe tannins with a mineral aftertaste and mineral aftertaste. It is a round wine that fills the mouth.
